Make music and get a certificate!
If school wasn't for you, this might be. Access to the Creative Industries: Reeltime is a first step into music, sound production and digital media, run with Reeltime Music, who have spent years helping young people in Lanarkshire get into music.
You'll try making and producing music, recording and sound engineering, and performing, and find out what you're good at. No experience needed, and no qualifications needed to start.
It's a friendly, relaxed place to learn where you'll get support from people who want you to do well. The course is part-time: one day a week at Reeltime Music in Newarthill, and one day at our Motherwell Campus.

Entry
Who can apply
Anyone with an interest in music. You don't need any qualifications and you don't need experience.
What we're looking for
That you're interested in music, sound or being creative, and you're up for giving it a go. That's it!
The interview
We'll invite you in for an informal chat about what you're into and what you'd like to get out of the course. It's nothing to worry about and there's nothing to prepare. You're welcome to bring someone with you.
You don't need to have used music software before. We'll show you.
Learn
What you'll do
The course runs for 18 weeks, and it's hands-on from the start. You'll make music, record it, and learn how to get it sounding good.
Making music
You'll learn to make tracks on a computer using the same software the professionals use, work with beats and melodies, and put a song together from scratch. Whatever you're into, you'll find your own sound.
Recording and mixing
You'll work in real recording studios, learning how to use microphones, record properly, and mix a track so it's ready for people to hear.
Performing
If you want to perform, you'll build your confidence, learn how to rehearse properly, and find out what it takes to play in front of people.
What you'll get out of it
- Real studios. You'll use the same recording studios and kit as our degree students.
- Small classes. You won't get lost in a crowd. Tutors have time for you, and you'll get one-to-one help when you need it.
- People like you. You'll meet others who are into the same things, work on music together and make connections that last.
- A certificate. Finish the course and you'll have a college certificate in music to show for it.
