Entry
There are no formal qualifications needed for this course. What matters is a genuine interest in making music or working with sound.
Christmas school leaver? If you have National 4 passes or similar, that's a great starting point, but it's your enthusiasm we're most interested in.
It helps to be comfortable using a computer, as you'll be working with music software throughout the course. You don't need to have used it before.
We may invite you in for an informal chat about your interest and any experience you have.

Studio Ready: Electronic Music & Sound Production is your introduction to the tools, techniques and creativity behind today's biggest tracks. You'll learn the foundations of music production, from beat-making and sound design to recording and mixing, using the same software and hardware the professionals use.
What you'll learn
You'll get hands-on with digital audio workstations including Ableton Live and Avid Pro Tools, and explore the building blocks of electronic music: sound synthesis, audio editing and effects processing. You'll learn how to shape your own sounds across different genres, and how to record vocals and instruments properly, so your tracks stand up next to anything else out there.
Make your own music
You'll work on creative projects that let you experiment and find your own style. Whether you're into house, hip-hop, drill, Afrobeats or experimental soundscapes, you'll produce original tracks and collaborate with other students along the way.
What you'll leave with
By the end of the course you'll have a solid foundation in electronic music production and a portfolio of your own work, ready for further study or your first steps in the music industry.
