Overview

The HNC Professional Cookery course is ideal for anyone that wants to propel their career or educational prospects by undertaking a highly rated qualification.  

The HNC in Professional Cookery (SCQF level 7) develops knowledge and skills in areas such as specialist culinary skills, food hygiene and control systems. Learners will specialise in production cookery, gaining valuable leadership skills and an understanding of the role of the supervisor.

 

Entry

Entry to this qualification can be from a number of different routes I.e., completion of Professional Chef (Level 6) or City and Guilds Diploma in Professional Cookery Level 2, appropriate industrial experience and success at competitive interview.  The most important aspect would be to have the base skills required by a chef as the HNC professional cookery program is not intended as an entry qualification and requires a good degree of skills prior to entry.
