PDA Dental Radiography (Operator)
Overview
This course will be delivered digitally providing underpinning knowledge relevant to operating safely with Ionising radiation in a dental practice.
It will prepare the registered Dental Care Professional (DCP) to act as an operator as they adhere to the prescription provided by a General Dental Council (GDC) registered dental practitioner.
The delivery of this programme will be remote but there may be occasions when you are required to come on to the Coatbridge Campus to complete formal closed book assessments under invigilated conditions.Â
If you are a full-time resident in Scotland, a parent or carer to a child under the age of 18 and currently earning less than £33,000, you could access this course free of charge. Email StrategyOffice@nclan.ac.uk to find out more.

Entry
Prior to commencement of the programme you must have Indemnity Insurance in place.
Candidates must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a Dental Care Professional (DCP).
They must have full support from a dental practitioner(s) who will sign a declaration stating that they will be responsible for practical skills development relating to, setting up for, and exposing patients to Ionising radiation.
Funding
Funding is available for eligible applicants to study the PDA Dental Radiography free of charge.
To qualify for this funding, you must:
Be a full-time resident of Scotland, including those with refugee or asylum seeker status
Have an individual annual income of less than £33,000
Be a parent or carer of a child under the age of 18
By applying for a funded place on this programme, you are confirming that you meet these criteria.
After submitting your course application, you will receive a secondary application form asking you to confirm your eligibility for funding.

Learn
Whilst completing your digital modules you will learn the theory and underpinning knowledge required to work as a Dental Radiography Operator.
Within your practice you will be supported with the practical skills to set up for a range of intra and extra-oral dental images.
Within your practice placement you will be supported with exposing patients to Ionising radiation under the supervision and prescription of a dental practitioner.
