BA (Hons) Music Performance aims to support students in developing their creative practice as performers, composers/songwriters and producers. The programme nurtures both artistic expression and technical skill, while also deepening students’ understanding of the cultural significance of music and the business frameworks that shape the industry.

Whether you see yourself as a live performer, session musician, songwriter, aspiring teacher or researcher, or future music industry professional, the course is designed to help you build confidence and versatility in your musical practice. From stagecraft and musicianship to ensemble work and interpretation, you’ll refine your ability to connect with audiences and deliver compelling performances.

The programme’s teaching is structured around key areas of the contemporary music industries. Students benefit from regular opportunities to rehearse, collaborate, and showcase their work in professional-standard facilities. The course also covers Music Industries studies, Electroacoustic Performance and Production and Music Industries Studies and Cultural Research. You’ll be taught by both NCL staff and visiting lecturers who are active music professionals, helping you build valuable industry connections and real-world performance experience.

Term two, students will also attend our Motherwell Campus.
